TRANSPORTATION

Livingston is 27 miles from New York City. Its residents enjoy a comfortable suburban lifestyle with easy access to New York City and other areas of New Jersey. Interstates 80 and 280, the Garden State Parkway, the New Jersey Turnpike, and Route 24 are all close to Livingston. Route 10 passes through the town and Newark International Airport is nearby. Commuters also have options of in-town bus service, New Jersey Transit trains from the bordering towns or a 15-minute drive to the PATH train in Harrison.

Livingston Township Information

Livingston Township has a Council-Manager form of government. Members of the Township Council serve as Mayor for one year on a rotating basis. While the Mayor and Council members serve part-time and do not have offices at Town Hall, they are accessible to the public.

The Township Council usually meets on Monday evenings.
There are two kinds of meetings:
Regular Meetings -- for formal actions
Conference Meetings -- for work sessions

Residents are welcome to attend both types of meetings, although they do not have input at conference meetings. After the Council has finished with the agenda of the regular meetings, the public has an opportunity to express themselves on matters that concern them.
